7:47 AMGreat Moments in Wee Touns Today is the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath. In 1320, 38 Scots nobles gathered in the abbey there to sign the document proclaiming Scotland's right of self-governance and refusing to submit to England's rule. Among the more quotable quotes in the declaration:
'For we fight not for glory nor for riches nor for honour,
but only and alone for freedom, which no good man surrenders but with
his life.' verso - recto |
